What is Maha Navami?
Maha Navami is the craftsman's festival: workshops are cleaned, machines garlanded, vehicles decorated with plantain and vermilion, and no tool is used until it has been worshipped.
In Bengal it is the last full day of Durga Puja, ending with the maha aarti before the Dashami farewell. Kanya pujan is performed where it was not done on Ashtami.
