What is Akshaya Tritiya?
Akshaya Tritiya is the rare date the classics call sarva-siddha — self-proven, needing no election. Muhurta Chintamani counts it among the days free of the need for tithi-vara-nakshatra screening.
Tradition marks it as the birthday of Parashurama, the start of the Treta Yuga, and the day the Akshaya Patra was given to the Pandavas. Buying gold, booking property and holding weddings on it is the modern observance of an old idea: what begins today grows.
Muhurat on Akshaya Tritiya
